Completely agree, do not want just a rental, a rental is a poor return on assets unless we win the cup. I'd rather add to the 1st rd pick (even if much more) for a renowned 1st line player.

Nice job guys. Just one gripe, I would have loved for you to ask Brett his feelings of Cappy and the job he's doing.

I get the solidarity of "The Brotherhood of The Maine alumni New Englanders Boys Club" and he's a fixture for now, that said I would have loved to hear how he would have answered that question. I'm thinking he may have politely deferred to answer after he laughed his ass off.

Being that the NHL trade deadline is about 4 weeks away, i'd like to see Garth address something before its too late.

Maybe im in the minority in this but, am i the only one who finds it a bit ridiculous that the GM has yet to speak to the public about the state of this team this year? I mean why hide? Why not answer the paying fans with the reasoning to play a career AHLer in Strait over one of the three d prospects?

Speaking is not really Garth's thing. I rather actions more than his words. He will say the same thing anyway. We have the talent on the team to get the job done.

Which other NHL GM has held a "State of the Union" press conference?

One of the points that was brought up on this podcast that to mean is very true, is that Snow wont have blind faith from the new ownership. He's going to have to be held accountable if his team fails. Its not enough to just draft......this guy needs to address who's in and who's in the way. Package some of them up and bring in whats needed. Its a phucking joke that he's been at the helm all these years and this team is still not a up contender, yet he still is in charge. A JOKE

Noones asking for a state of the union, but Garths been more distant this season than most. He's literally be absent

Part of the job is being able to play the game (with the media).......after all its the fans who's money pays these salaries. There hasnt even been quotes in the paper.......its like he's dissapeared.

I’m actually going to agree with Rick here because in Vancouver Jim Benning has been interviewed frequently on the state of the Canucks and what they’re trying to built toward. While you won’t get much of the inner workings from him, it’s refreshing to hear a GM talk about what he wants to improve

While it’s not typical, it would be informative for the fans

What? ...you literally just asked why he hasn't "spoke to the public about the state of the team".

When you say he's absent...absent in what way? How often is he some sort of outspoken media presence? How often is any GM?

If I remember correctly the last thing garth came out and said publicly was that he has confidence in crappy and his assistants. That's all I really need to hear from him.

I don't disagree that it would be nice to see and somewhat informative...but, like you said, it's not typical. I don't expect it and I certainly won't let it get to me if I don't see it.

That's just not true.

What was the last think Jeff Gorton came out and said?

Have you heard from Ken Holland lately?

Any big news from Jim Nill?

This is the problem. He says the same things. We have the talent to win. If there is a deal available we will make it. It's painful to listen to and you can tell Garth seems real uncomfortable with speaking.

As general manager since 2008, one would think he would be more in touch with the fans. After all its the fans who's money pays for most of this. I find it funny that the ticket brokers when they call multiple times say things like "garths gonna do this and that" yet garth hasnt said anything. My point here, is that I dont think Garth knows what to say.........for the first time his job is on the line soon, and he just turtled.

These are not teams who's rebuild has taken 8 years without a playoff round win, nor one in sight. Ken Holland, Jeff Gorton, Jim Nill??? Those three organizations are winning organizations. They speak for themselves. You're talking about the islanders.....who have NOT WON A PLAYOFF ROUND UNDER SNOW.

It's not even remotely the same.

It would be nice if someone gave me $20. I do not expect someone to give me $20 and will not get upset when I don't get $20 from someone.

You are questioning why nobody gave you $20 and saying that you believe they owe you $20.

Does that simplify it?

Sure...Snow holding court and addressing the fans about the team would be nice. But I don't expect it to happen, it's not going to happen, and I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about it.

The only thing I want to hear from Garth is Cappy has been replaced by a real coach or we just traded for a skilled and gritty forward. Anything else he can save the we have enough talent to win speech.
